The Shadow Box: Metal Clay Construction

July 6 @ 10:00 am - July 7 @ 5:00 pm

Placed on a dresser or wall, the conventional shadow box is an elegant container for displaying keepsakes. In this advance workshop an adaptation becomes the display object itself to wear and enjoy. Students taking this workshop will move beyond the traditional flat two-dimensional metal clay object and learn to build a frame, add backing on that frame, decorative elements, and a fantasy bail all of which will house a keepsake stone, bead or pearl. As two to three unique pieces of jewelry are created, the focus is on planning, building and drying individual components, which are then engineered into a three dimensional structure
